Tomi Yoshikawa

Tomi was born in Peru and started drawing at the age of four. His family immigrated to Japan and later to the US where he received his B.A. in illustration from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver, Colorado. In 2005 he returned to Japan and started his career as a professional graphic designer at LIGHTAIR Inc. Since 2011 he has been a freelance graphic designer and illustrator working from his home studio. He loves drawing palm trees and designing brand logos. He gets his inspiration from comic books, surf and skateboard culture.
The name "Buenos Rios" is the Spanish translation of Tomi's Japanese last name which means "Good River".

南米ペルー出身、４歳から絵を描き始める。10歳で日本、そして17歳でアメリカに移住。コロラド州にあるロッキーマウンテン・カレッジ・オブ・アート・アンド・デザインで学士号を取得後ロサンゼルスで１年間を過ごし、再び日本へ。デザイン制作会社を経て、2011年からフリーのグラフィックデザイナー兼イラストレーターとして活動中。日本の漫画やアメリカの西海岸カルチャーからインスピレーションを受けながら作品を生み出している。
屋号のブエノス・リオスは、本人の持つ日本語の苗字「吉川」をスペイン語に訳したものである。

Tomi nació en Perú y comenzó a dibujar desde los 4 años. Su familia emigró a Japón y luego a EE. UU. donde obtuvo un título de grado en ilustración en Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design en Denver Colorado. En el 2005, el regresó a Japón y empezó su carrera como diseñador gráfico profesional en LIGHTAIR inc. En el año 2011 se convirtió en diseñador gráfico e ilustrador independiente y continúa trabajando desde su casa en Japón. A el le encanta dibujar palmeras y diseñar logotipos de marcas y compañías. Gran parte de su arte personal está inspirada en los cómics y también de la cultura del surf y el skateboard.
El nombre Buenos Rios es la traducción en español del apellido japonés; "Yoshikawa".
